Painting, painting!

When we bought our house 2 months ago it was STARK white. Which made me pretty pumped because then I could do anything! With endless possibilities before me, I decided to start painting the family room/breakfast room/kitchen first, cause that's where we spend the most time. Since they are kinda one big room, I decided to paint them all the same color and then add an accent color later. Once the living room was done it just felt so much warmer and more inviting! I LOVE it!

The final venture was the kitchen. I went ahead and bought some handles for the cabinets (cause I really don't like the cabinets, but they are too expensive to upgrade and I don't have time to stain right now). It's a pick-me-up to that room at least. So here is the picture of the kitchen before we bought it...

Plain jane, eh? Well, we moved in and got pretty settled.

Wesley is 7 months old!

Well, Wesley turned 7 months old on Sunday! It's hard to believe that the time has gone by so quickly! I am so in love with this little guy - and he sure knows he has me wrapped around that cute little finger! Thought I'd share our 7 month photo shoot. Enjoy!

Last couch delivered!

Well, our love seat finally arrived today giving us a complete living room set (minus the lamps that are still supposed to arrive in a couple weeks). Here's a couple pics - with baby gear and all! Can't wait to paint!!

It's the little things

Since we got our bedroom set and bedding I've been searching high and low for an accent color. I know I want to paint the walls a gray color (already picked it out) but I just couldn't find that "perfect" color to bring it all to life. So, I've shopped and shopped and searched online, etc. Well TODAY I finally found it! It was all inspired by a blue and green painting of a flower I saw in Bed Bath and Beyond (cause I couldn't find anything there). I went next door to Ross and found a pillow I liked and then over Pier 1 where I found the rest of the ensemble! I'm pleased and now I can't wait to paint!

New House, New Bedroom Set!

So, we finally got moved into our new home! It's so exciting and so tiring all at once. It's so nice to have room to spread out! It's such a blessing to have friendly neighbors who have already been knocking on my door, inviting me to birthday parties and giving me diapers! I'm so close to friends - EXACTLY what I've waited for! Amidst all of the craziness we bought some new furniture, sold my old car and bought me a new car (well, new to me). Life is good.

So, for the next many years of my life (hopefully) I will be decorating/painting/making this our home. I'm TOTALLY excited about this process (can't say the same for Matt...) lol. So here is my first project for the new house: a pot rack for the empty wall in the kitchen! (Ok, so maybe that was the 2nd, first we got a new kitchen faucet, but who's counting. ;)

So then here is our master bedroom before (note the trend of white EVERYWHERE... I'm kinda excited...)...And here is our new furniture!

I'm still waiting on the lamps to be delivered (they are big, clear, round, glass lamps with a white drum shade). Also, I've chosen a grayish color to paint the walls. So, to all my decorating friends out there, what accent color?? My bedspread is pretty accurate in the picture - kinda taupe background and everything else is black. I'm thinking I want a "pop" of color, but I'm afraid the bedspread is limiting. I want to stay away from red (I tend to stay within a few colors and I want to branch out). I was thinking a bright yellow originally, but now I'm not sure. Maybe turquoise? Maybe green? Any suggestions??
